On October 8, 2018, Distinguished Professor of Arts, Sichuan University, Professor of Education, Professor Jiang, and Professor Cao Shunqing of the European Academy of Science and Art were invited to give lectures.

Mr. Cao Shunqing is the core figure of the Chinese School of Comparative Literature, and has created comparative poetics and comparative literary variation. In the mid-1990s, Mr. Cao published "The Basic Theoretical Features of the Chinese School of Comparative Literature and Its Methodology System" in "Chinese Comparative Literature" and "The Controversy of Literature and Art". "Aphasia and Cultural Illness" caused The academic world is shaking. Critics believe that since the comparative literature Chinese school has matured, the literary aphasia problem proposed by Mr. Cao has been repeatedly commented on as the main topic at various academic conferences in the academic circles. For more than 20 years, Mr. Cao has been working hard to sort out the development of literary theory in nearly 20 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and the United States, in order to explore the practical path to pursue the mechanism and law of the creation of Eastern and Western cultures. After 22 years, he wrote History of Foreign Languages, this book is four volumes and eight articles, counting 4,180 pages, published in 2014. It is the only history book covering Chinese and foreign literary theories. This book explores the source of the book, the vertical and horizontal, the macro and the micro, the content is rich, and the evaluation is wonderful. It is the work of the Chinese rumored family in the international literary academia. In the process of collating Chinese and foreign literary theories, Mr. Cao combed the theory of comparative literature, published three papers on the development of comparative literature theory, and the study of literary variation in comparative literature, emphasizing the different cultures. Heterogeneity, creating comparative literary variation.

Mr. Cao’s speech was titled “Chinese Elements of Western Literary Theory.” At 3 pm, the lecture hall on the second floor of the Foreign Languages Institute was full of seats. The teachers and students aspired to see Mr. Cao’s presence. The lecture began, and Mr. Cao broke the post and made a hit. It is pointed out that the "modern transformation of ancient Chinese literary theory" is essentially an assertion of the vitality and effectiveness of ancient Chinese literary theory. The introduction of "scientific" Western theory has become the meta-discourse of Chinese literary theory. It is China. After the human culture loses confidence, it completely denies the results of its traditional culture. According to Mr. Cao's research, Western culture actually has a multi-source relationship. The composition of contemporary Western literature and literary theory has Chinese culture and literary theory. In fact, Western literary theory has always been learning Chinese literary theory and Chinese culture. Chinese literary theory breeds infinite vitality, and understanding the Chinese elements of Western literary theory helps us to re-recognize the value of Chinese literary theory.

Immediately afterwards, Mr. Cao cleaned up the origins and connections between Western literary theory and Chinese literary theory, and combed the Chinese elements in the literary thoughts of dozens of modern philosopher thinkers or poets. The modern epistemology turned to Descartes, to Leibniz, to the 18th century French enlightenment thinker Voltaire, the 19th century classicism philosophy represented Hegel, Schopenhauer, the representative of the twentieth-century existential philosophy Heidegger The contemporary thinker Derrida, Foucault; and the poet literary theorists Valery, Pound, and Richards. Some of the ideas inside are refreshing. While Mr. Cao put forward his views, he provided a convincing argument with a large amount of informative materials. For example, Schopenhauer’s “objectification of will” and Zhu Xi’s “harmony between man and nature” are considered to be the result of Schopenhauer’s assertion that human greed and suffering are due to the “will to life” in the body. This "will to life" is actually a replica of Zhu Xi's "human desire"; for example, from Descartes' influence on the dualistic relationship between Chinese and yin and yang, in his way of exploring the world's primitives, there is obviously Chinese Song. The traces of the dualism of "science and qi" in Mingxue in the philosophical logic deduction; Mr. Cao also emphasizes Derrida's theory of extension and the ancient Chinese philosophy of "none" and "change", the idea of dual complementarity, The understanding of the overall relevance of the world has been studied theoretically, and the deconstruction theory of Derrida has been compared with the deconstruction strategy in Zhuangzi's thought; the representative of British and American modernism, Pound, has been influenced by Chinese culture and led the ideological movement of poetry. As everyone knows, Mr. Cao cited the obsession of Pound's "ideographic system" in China, and listed the creative translation of Pound's Chinese classical poetry. This kind of effort is called the successful "nationalization of Chinese culture", that is, localization of Chinese literature based on the way of thinking and speaking of the nation, and creating poetry that conforms to the habits of appreciation of the nation. Mr. Cao’s summary is undoubtedly a continuation of his affirmation of the “variability” of different cultures in travel.

In answering the question, Mr. Cao emphasized the influence of Chinese culture in the Chinese cultural circle and answered the path of enhancing the influence of Chinese literary theory. Mr. Cao said that both Chinese and Western literary theories are valuable and can complement each other. We must enhance the self-confidence of our culture. He hopes that all the students and scholars of comparative literature will work together to realize the self-innovation of Chinese culture and enhance the influence of Chinese culture.
